Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu announced the setting up of two locomotive factories worth ₹40,000 crore in the Railway budget today. Capital plans of ₹1.21 lakh crore were announced and the revenue generation target set to around ₹1.84 lakh crore for the next fiscal. The outlay for railway electrification was increased by 50%, with 2,000 km to be electrified next fiscal.
