Alphabet's self-driving unit Waymo received California regulators' approval to transport passengers in its robotaxis, TechCrunch stated. Waymo said California Public Utilities Commission allows it to participate in their Autonomous Vehicle Passenger Service pilot, letting its staff hail its vehicles and bring guests on rides. Waymo can’t charge for rides and must have safety drivers in vehicles.
