A 1,000-year-old bowl from the Chinese Song dynasty was auctioned for $37.7 million (around ₹247 crore) on Tuesday, breaking the auction record for Chinese porcelain, said auction house Sotheby's. Designed to wash brushes, the bowl dates from 960-1127 and is one of the only four pieces in private hands. The bidding started at $10.2 million, and ended in 20 minutes.
