As many as 18 CPI(M) members from West Bengal were awarded life imprisonment by a district court on Wednesday for murdering two Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers in 2010. The convicts had kidnapped the TMC workers from their villages and lynched them. The conviction comes ahead of the panchayat elections in the state, which are scheduled to be held next month.
