An amateur Australian astronomer has captured footage of a rare phenomenon of upside down lightning flashes, called sprites. Sprites are caused by electrical discharge during storms but instead of traditionally going towards the ground, they travel upwards into space. The phenomenon was observed in the skies above Australia's New South Wales.
