The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) radio service in London announced that "there is no news" on April 18, 1930, following which piano music was played for the rest of the 15-minute news bulletin. BBC stated that there was nothing worthy of broadcast on that day as the "flood of news, official or otherwise, had dried up".
