The Chhattisgarh government's proposal to add egg in the Mid-day Meal Scheme to fight malnutrition in students was criticised by social organisations and the BJP opposition. "This is a move to promote non-vegetarian food. There are other vegetarian options to fight...malnourishment," said an opposer. The government had reached out to the group through a committee, however, no solution was found.
