Darjeeling shutdown may cause ₹340 crore loss to tea gardens

The shutdown in Darjeeling due to protests demanding a separate state may cause a revenue loss of ₹340 crore to the city's 87 tea gardens, according to reports. “Since plucking of leaves has stopped for the last 12 days, there has been undergrowth in bushes making the crop more vulnerable to pest attacks,” an official said.
