Discovery credits of Ring Nebula corrected after 238 years

Historians credit French astronomer Antoine Darquier for the discovery of the Ring Nebula in 1779. However, US-based scientists found his compatriot Charles Messier found the Nebula a week before, calling it M57. On comparing their notes, scientists found that Messier credited Darquier as the first person to "spot" the Nebula after the former's discovery, which had confused the historians.
