Einstein was offered the Presidency of Israel in 1952

After the death of Israel's first President in 1952, Albert Einstein was offered the Presidency of the Jewish state. Einstein declined the offer citing "lack of experience and natural aptitude" to deal with people. The Nobel-winning physicist was born to a Jewish family on March 14, 1879, in Germany, and left for US in 1933 to avoid persecution by Nazis.
