Engineers make bricks from Mars-like soil

Explorers planning to settle on Mars might be able to turn the planet's red soil into bricks by just applying pressure, without using an oven, according to a NASA-funded study. Engineers made the bricks by compacting a Martian soil simulant in rubber tubes. They believe that iron oxide, responsible for the soil's reddish hue would act as a brick-binding agent.
