A Brazil-based firm has developed plastic containers that change colours on changing pH levels of their contents, a sign of possible expiry. The first prototype was made in 2015, but the technology is still being tested to ensure accurate detection of spoilage while considering factors other than pH levels. The containers would be commercial by 2-3 years, said the company.
