The government hiked the dearness allowance (DA) for central government employees and pensioners on Wednesday by six percent. The move is expected to benefit a total of 50 lakh employees and 58 lakh pensioners. The new rate of DA, standing at 125% from the previous 119%, will be implemented from January 1, 2016, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
