HIV eliminated from living animal cells with gene editing in a 1st

America's Temple University and University of Nebraska Medical Center researchers claimed they eliminated HIV DNA from the genomes of living animals, in a first. Researchers combined gene editing system with a recently developed therapeutic strategy called long-acting slow-effective release (LASER) ART. Analyses showed complete elimination of HIV-1 DNA in about one-third of HIV-infected mice.
