IISc scientists create solar desalination system

Researchers from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, have developed a solar hybrid desalination system to convert sea water into drinkable water. The system can purify about 6.5 litres of saline water per square metre of the concerned instrument in six hours. The invention was aimed at reducing the life-span cost of the desalination process while still meeting performance requirements.
