Lebanon's Army chief General Joseph Aoun has asked the military to be at "full readiness" to face "the Israeli enemy" at the southern border. Lebanese President Michel Aoun also called on the army to counter Israel's "aggressive intentions towards Lebanon, its people and its army". Relations between Lebanon and Israel have strained over Lebanon's support to the militant group Hezbollah.
