Maha govt orders local bodies to notify 'silence zones'

The Maharashtra government has asked local bodies across the state to notify 'silence zones' by November 25. This comes after noise pollution rules were amended, barring the designation of any area as a 'silence zone' unless notified by the state government. 'Silence zones' are areas within 100 metres of hospitals, courts, educational, and religious institutions.
