Man takes apricots to beat cancer, gets cyanide poisoning

Australia-based doctors have reported a case of a 67-year-old man who got cyanide poisoning from the unprescribed apricot kernel extract he was taking to beat cancer. The patient, who came for a routine check-up had abnormally low oxygen levels, said researchers, while further diagnosis revealed blood cyanide levels around 25 times above acceptable levels, which could be fatal.
