The Moon on Monday occulted three planets: Mars, Venus and Mercury, two asteroids, and a star named Regulus within 24 hours, according to the US Naval Observatory. When the Moon blocks the view of a celestial body besides the Sun, it's called an occultation. Notably, the alignment involving the Moon, three planets and Regulus happens only once every 28 years.
