The Pacific island nation of Tuvalu, expected to "sink" amid rising sea levels, is actually growing in size, a New Zealand-based research has shown. Based on satellite imagery, researchers found eight of nine atolls and around 75 of 101 islands grew from 1971-2014, lifting Tuvalu's land area by 2.9% even though surrounding sea levels rose at twice the global average.
