short by Gaurav Shroff / on Tuesday, 19 September, 2017
Japanese researchers have developed an ultra-thin photovoltaic device, which can continue to provide electricity even after being soaked in water or being stretched and compressed. The prototype had an energy efficiency of 7.9%, which decreased to 7.5% on dipping in water for two hours. Further, the device worked at 80% of its original efficiency even when compressed to nearly half.
