Physicists from the University of California and Stanford University have discovered evidence of Majorana fermions, long-hypothesized particles that are their own antiparticles. A collision between a particle and its antiparticle, which is called annihilation, is found to release energy. It is claimed that the discovery of these particles will help in the creation of more robust quantum computers.
