Singapore to pay citizens S$300 bonus after surplus budget

Singapore will pay its citizens aged 21 and above a one-off 'SG Bonus' of up to S$300 each as the 2017 budget included a surplus of Singapore $10 billion. The bonus will be paid based on citizens' incomes. Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat said that this reflected the government's commitment to "share the fruits of development" with the citizens.
