Syrian national Yusra Mardini, who helped save a boat carrying fellow refugees in 2015, has been appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. Mardini, who competed in 2016 Rio Olympics as part of the first-ever Refugee Olympic Team, said she would dedicate her voice to speak up for people who have been forced to flee their homes.
