Toyota Kirloskar Motor's Vice Chairman Shekar Viswanathan said the taxation of cars in India should be based on emission levels and not on engine capacity or ground clearance. He also sought a reduction in tax rate on hybrid cars. Viswanathan further said that Toyota globally has 34 hybrid models but in India, it has only one due to "punitive taxation".
