Toyota has announced that it will launch a $2.8 billion self-driving car company named Toyota Research Institute-Advanced Development (TRI-AD) along with automotive suppliers Aisin Seiki and Denso. It aims to create a fully-integrated software for automated driving, according to the company. TRI-AD will be an offshoot of the Toyota Research Institute, founded by Toyota in 2015.
