Uber has been fined $8.9 million in the US for violating driver qualification laws by allowing drivers with invalid licenses and record of felony convictions to work. Colorado's Public Utilities Commission said it could not confirm if Uber even conducted background checks in certain cases. Uber said that the error affected a few drivers and it took corrective action immediately.
