The US Senate has voted 61-36 against an amendment to repeal the 2001 and 2002 Authorisations for Use of Military Force (AUMF) in Afghanistan and Iraq. The amendment, which would have restricted US from fighting terrorism globally, was rejected over concerns that repealing the authorisation without a direct replacement would put the country's national security in danger.
