Volcanic eruptions triggered dawn of dinosaurs: Study

Volcanic activities may have led to a mass extinction event about 200 million years ago, which triggered the rise of dinosaurs, an Oxford study stated. The study found elevated mercury levels in sediment deposits during extinction of Triassic-era reptiles. The emissions coincided with known increases in atmospheric CO2, suggesting volcanic eruptions marking the onset of dinosaurs' Jurassic era.
