Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday said that his country wants to maintain stability in the South China Sea as it seeks alliances in the region amid tensions in the disputed waters. China has been criticised for constructing artificial islands in the energy-rich South China Sea on which several nations including Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia have laid territorial claims.
