WhatsApp Co-founder Brian Acton on Wednesday announced his departure from the messaging service company to start a new non-profit organisation focused on technology and communications. The Stanford alumnus, along with current CEO Jan Koum, had started WhatsApp in 2009 and sold it to Facebook in 2014. Notably, WhatsApp has over 1 billion daily and 1.3 billion monthly active users worldwide.
