US' Food and Drug Administration has approved the first-ever drug which uses digital tracking to record if the medication was taken. The system works by sending a message from the pill's sensor to a wearable patch, which can transfer the information to the patient's smartphone and doctor. The product is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression.
