An over 500-year-old artwork by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci has become the world's most expensive painting ever sold, fetching over ₹2,900 crore ($450.3 million) at an auction on Wednesday in New York City. The oil painting which depicts Jesus Christ in Renaissance clothes holding a crystal orb is one of the 16 verified da Vinci originals in existence.
