Yahoo fined $35 million for not disclosing 2014 data breach

Internet company Yahoo has been fined $35 million for failing to disclose a data breach to its investors, the US Securities and Exchange Commission said on Tuesday. The breach took place in 2014 in which hackers stole data of over 500 million accounts. Yahoo revealed the breach shortly after reaching an agreement to be purchased by Verizon in July 2016.
