Can't increase number of BTech seats: 7 Old IITs

Citing limitations of resources – from infrastructure to faculty – the seven older IITs have refused to increase the number of seats to their four-year Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programmes. Only second-generation IITs have agreed to increase the undergraduate strength from next year. The IIT Council had earlier approved increasing the student strength from 72,000 to 1 lakh by 2020.
