Chess originated in India during the 6th century

The modern game of chess is widely regarded to have begun in India during the 6th century, in the form of Chaturanga. As per some Historians, Chaturanga gradually transformed into Chatrang and then Shatranj (hindi name for Chess), and the rules and set design of the game slowly evolved to reach today’s standards in the early 19th century.
