China's Gansu province has a range of 'Rainbow Mountains' at Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park. Layers of different coloured sandstones and minerals were pressed together over time to create the colourful mountains. Dating back over millions of years, the mountain range came into prominence only in 2000. The scenic area has given a major boost to tourism in the province.
