Harvard University researchers have made the first entirely 3D-printed heart-on-a-chip with integrated sensing. They incorporated sensors into the device using six different inks, to facilitate the process of reliable data collection. Organs-on-chips, known as microphysiological systems, are synthetic replacements to living organ tissue and offer alternatives to traditional animal testing.
