Insect eyes inspire new solar cell design
short by Gaurav Shroff / on Wednesday, 6 September, 2017
Inspired by the compound eye of a fly, Stanford researchers have created a solar cell using perovskite cells, which are cheaper than commercial solar cells but more fragile. However, when perovskite microcells were fitted in a honeycomb structure, they survived heat conditions of 85ºC and 85% relative humidity, generating electricity at relatively high efficiency for six weeks, researchers said.
