Several high-ranking members of China's Communist Party had plotted to overthrow President Xi Jinping from power, according to reports. Among those reportedly involved in the alleged coup were former presidential aide Ling Jihua, and former military officer Guo Boxiong. The members involved in the plot were detained or jailed as part of a corruption crackdown launched by Jinping, reports added.
