Reversible material can cool on one side, heat on the other

Stanford University researchers have created a material that controls the amount of heat lost depending on how one wears it. Its carbon-coated layer when worn on the outside gives a cooling effect, while the copper-coated layer if kept outside, helps keep the heat in. Providing a thermal comfort range of 6.5°C, it could be developed for temperature-regulating clothing, said researchers.
