Spain once held a national sleeping competition

Spain held its first national siesta championship in 2010 in a shopping mall in Madrid. The contest, held by National Association of Friends of the Siesta, aimed to revive the power-napping tradition. Participants were to sleep for 20 minutes, while their pulses were monitored. Points were awarded for how quickly participants fell asleep and the most original sleeping position.
