Telecom major Vodafone on Monday confirmed that it is in discussions with Aditya Birla group's telecom arm Idea Cellular for a merger. The new entity could generate revenues of over ₹80,000 crore. The merger would create India’s largest telecom company both in terms of revenues and subscribers, taking on market leader Bharti Airtel as well as new entrant Reliance Jio.
