Telangana Police has closed probe into death of Rohith Vemula, claiming he wasn't a Dalit and died by suicide because he was afraid his "real caste identity" would be discovered. The report gave clean chit to the accused, saying the caste certificates of Vemula family were forged. Vemula's death in 2016 triggered nationwide protests over discrimination against Dalits in universities.
