Jailed Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh's family on 26 April announced that he will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Punjab's Khadoor Sahib. Allegedly a votary of Khalistan, Singh's entry will force the hand of SAD, Congress, AAP and BJP in different ways. "Compared to rest of Punjab, Sikh religio-political influence is strongest in Khadoor Sahib," said a political journalist.
