Govt imposes 40% export duty on onions; cuts import duty on chana

The government has imposed a 40% export duty on onions from Saturday onwards. It has also exempted duty on imports of desi chana till March 31, 2025 and extended the duty exemption on imports of yellow peas till October 31, 2024. Currently, India allows exports of onions only to a few countries, including UAE and Bangladesh.
