India's NHAI is introducing self-healing asphalt technology to address potholes, a major cause of road accidents. The technology, which uses steel wool to make bitumen conductive, could extend road lifespan and reduce traffic disruptions. The government has allocated Rs 2,600 crore for road maintenance in 2024-25.
