The 1937 Hindenburg disaster was one of the deadliest airship accidents. The LZ 129 Hindenburg was a German commercial airship. It was the Hindenburg class' main airship, the longest-class flying machine, and the largest airship by envelope volume. The disaster hastened the end of the era of airships.
