Why was Shaksgam Valley, part of India, ceded by Pakistan to China in 1963?

Shaksgam Valley, which lies in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, was ceded by Pakistan to China in 1963 under an agreement to settle border differences. The pact was signed "to put pressure on India", ABP reported quoting veteran diplomat Ranjit Singh Kalha. China and Pakistan built Karakoram Highway passing through the region, which provides link for Tibet and Sinkiang in China with PoK.
