The European Union has banned 527 Indian food products, including MDH and Everest brands, due to cancer-causing chemicals. Ethylene oxide, a colourless gas, is not approved for use in food at the EU level. 87 consignments were rejected and others removed from the market. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India initiated quality checks.
